Christine Mueller received a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture (Magna Cum Laude) from Washington University in St. Louis (1995), and a Master of Architecture from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University (2000). Fluent in English, French, and German, she has lived in Germany, Switzerland, the United States of America and in India.

 

Pankaj Vir Gupta has taught at the School of Architecture - University of Virginia (Harry S. Shure Professor of Architecture), the School of Architecture - University of Texas in Austin (McDermott Visiting Professor in Architecture), Arizona State University, and the University of New Mexico – where he received the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, as well as the J. B. Jackson grant award for research. In 1999, he founded Reading India, a study-abroad program for architecture students, exploring the architecture of ancient and contemporary India. Pankaj Vir Gupta is a licensed architect in the United States, and a registered member of the Council of Indian Architects. He received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Virginia (1993), and a Master of Architecture from the Graduate School of Architecture at Yale University (1997). Fluent in English and Hindi, he has lived in India, and the United States of America.

Founded in 2003 by partners Christine Mueller and Pankaj Vir Gupta, the office of vir.mueller architects combines architectural research, education, and practice. Prior to establishing the firm, both partners worked for renowned architectural offices in the United States, Europe, and India.

We strive to create timeless aesthetic relationships, evoking the spirit of contemporary culture, ecology, and technology. According primacy to the process of design, our work evolves as a response to the particular character of each program, site and budget. At every scale, we emphasize the integrity of material and craftsmanship, establishing a fundamental relationship between the physical environment, and the art of making architecture. The professional work of vir.mueller architects has been widely published and awarded – in North America, in Europe, and in India. vir.mueller architects have received awards from the American Institute of Architects, the Foundation for World Education, the George Nakashima Foundation for Peace, and the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts.

In 2006, vir.mueller architects established a full-time architectural office in New Delhi, India. Our staff comprises of talented architects from across the world, well versed in critical issues pertaining to design and construction. Our clients and contractors are invaluable members of our team, and we value our collaborations with them.

Currently we are pursuing a range of institutional and residential projects. New Projects include the Humayun's Tomb Interpretation Centre for the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, the Institute of Management and Technology for the Bajaj Foundation, the India centre for the University of Chicago, the research campus for the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), the campus for the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) and a new Institute of Information and Communication Technology for Ahmedabad University.
